Proline 480 SC fungicide, manufactured and marketed by Bayer CropScience, is now registered for use on canola. The new active ingredient is a member of the triazolinthione class of chemistry. It gives growers with a new option for control of Sclerotinia stem rot.
“Canola growers have been looking for something new and better to protect their crop,” says Randy Myers, Bayer CropScience fungicide portfolio manager. “Proline provides outstanding performance on Sclerotinia and is available in an easy-to-use formulation.”
North Dakota State University 2003-2005 trials show Proline fungicide provided the most effective control of Sclerotinia and the greatest yield improvement in comparison to other registered products tested.
“In trial results across U.S. canola-growing regions, we’ve seen a marked reduction in Sclerotinia disease severity and increased yields with Proline,” Myers adds.
In addition to canola, Proline is also available to control Ascochyta blight in chickpeas and lentils as well as scab and leaf diseases in wheat and barley.
